Walking through this building, every detail tells a story—some of resilience, others of time and neglect. Over the past few days, I’ve taken a closer look at both the damage and the unique historical elements that still remain, capturing it all in photos to share with you. Some of these details are small and easy to overlook but rich with history, while others reveal the urgent repairs needed to keep this place standing.
Below, you’ll find a collection of images showcasing both the beauty and the challenges of restoring this building. Each one represents a piece of its past—and a reason to fight for its future.
For context - most of the photos herein were taken in the past few days. At this time, we have not done anything to the upstairs of the building whatsoever. However, we are about 50% finished with the tare out of the downstairs living areas. We began the tare out when we arrived here in October 2024, but have put it on hold for the winter. So, you'll have to pardon the mess in the photos.
You'll notice that the actual storefront is not pictured in this gallery. That is because we are currently dwelling there, as it is the most well preserved and safe area of the building.
When it warms up in the Spring, and we get back to work clearing things out, I plan to record a walkthrough video as well. This gallery does not showcase every single aspect of the building, good or bad. But I hope that the overview is sufficient for the time being to paint the picture of its circumstances.
